After a whirlwind SXSW, Joey Bada$$ and his Pro Era crew kept traveling, touring the US and Canada. We joined them and support acts Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers for the Best Coastal tour’s last leg, hanging out on the trip from Indianapolis to two sold-out finale shows in New York. The way Joey and the Pro Era guys command the stage, seamlessly passing the mic and ad-libbing for each other, you almost forget they’re mostly teenagers. When we met, though, they were playing Marco Polo at the hotel pool. Everyone was sick with something; they had bronchitis or strep or whatever disease you catch when you eat pizza every day and live on an RV with 10 other people. Despite their depressed immune systems, the crew was enamored with life on tour, balancing homesickness—missing their grandmas, bicycles and beds—with their youthful restlessness and thirst for exploration.
Doobies to FADER for the dope documentary. Joey’s Summer Knights EP coming in June.Read More

In the past couple of months, we’ve heard about these two being together a lot like when Earl brought out Mac during one of his LA shows or when Fly Lotus brought them both out at his show. Footage of a new song these two performed together at one of those shows surfaced a couple weeks ago, and today, we get the studio quality version of that track. The two pitch down their voice while bluntly rapping over this low-key beat produced by randomblackguy. Doris coming soon.Read More

One of the stand-out tracks from Black Zheep’s newly released mixtape, ZHEEP, is this Butch Dawson-produced cut titled ’4.1.0′ featuring Miami’s up and coming Denzel Curry. This track originally dropped about a month ago but I have no idea how it got past me. Hearing these two spit viciously with no regret over this threatening beat is a good indicator as to why these two are buzzing underground right now. The project is out now and you can stream the full mixtape here.Read More
